Diamond Peak Advisors was founded by Larry Pentis.
Larry Pentis is a former CEO of a national personal lines insurance carrier. Over the last 13 years of a 30 year career in the insurance industry, Larry managed all aspects of a personal lines insurance operation with major focus on automobile and homeowners insurance. He led all functional areas including product management, claims, sales & marketing, risk management, actuarial, underwriting operations, legal, finance, human resources and technology. Larry was directly accountable to the board of directors and shareholders for the growth and profitability of the operation. In 2002, he led a total re-engineering of the Claims operation and Claims legal functions. Larry is experienced in forming Bermuda and Hawaii based captive insurers to enable efficient risk transfer. He has expertise in the regulatory framework of all 50 states. Larry developed a Large Loss Committee and was the Chairman over a 16-year period. The Loss Committee acted as the fiduciary body to resolve disputes involving policy claimants, regulatory authorities, employment matters and extra-contractual matters.
Recently, Larry was the founding CEO of a national on-line insurance brokerage. He developed substantial experience in agency operations and the challenges faced by traditional agents. In addition, Larry has significant experience in mergers and acquisitions including the creation of a national life insurance carrier. He chaired the board of this entity as well as other entities.
Prior to CEO level operational experience, Larry served in various capacities including CFO, Investment Director and Tax Attorney. As Investment Director, he managed insurance and pension assets in excess of $4 billion.
Larry was admitted to the California Bar in 1982. He was recently appointed as a Neutral on the panel of the American Arbitration Association.
Larry has taught many courses over his career including a ten-year period where he served as Adjunct Professor in the Golden Gate University School of Business.
Having received a B.A. in economics from the University of California at Santa Barbara, Larry earned a Master’s in business taxation from the University of Southern California (USC), a J.D. from the USC School of Law. In 1999, Larry completed the Harvard University Advanced Management Program.
